Our friends at Stomach of Anger (we like them, they make the great tee shirts including the Schlecklander Uniform Tee) have made this following comment:
What on earth are they talking about?

OK we can all see what they mean about Fabu quite possibly being a male model in a former black and white life, but how can they suggest that Unndy isn't "selling it"? I think he's doing a cracking job of being a male model! I mean, it fits, he looks cool, if I were a bloke wanting a padded leather jacket, I'd probably ask to try one on, wouldn't you?
Sometimes I think other people don't know what they're talking about...
And personally, I think that's quite a good look for him, don't you? I suspect he was going for "mean and moody" but in my opinion has managed to get "soul piercing" instead. Or possibly "over tired".

ReplyDeleteI think you're right. I saw the pictures last night, and I got spontaneous "heat attacks"... which had nothing to do with the fact it was over 30°C yesterday here in La Belgium...
Andy does look Schlexy in that leather jacket, though I think he would rock that suit of Fabs even more...

Actually Coug, I’m more perturbed that Andy’s nose seems to have been doctored a little. It just looks narrower somehow, which might be a lighting effect of the photo being shot in black & white.

Also, why isn’t Jakob part of this marketing campaign?! Was he at the checkout at DAY Birger et Mikkelsen? Or too busy plucking his perfectly symmetrical eyebrows? :P
Fig, I have to assume Jakob's eyebrow care is only taken care of by a professional. The stakes are so high!

Hey PeeDee, couldn't agree more, the leather jacket itself is fairly horrible.
ReplyDeleteI'm still not sure about Jakob's eyebrowage, they are indeed perfectly formed and delightful to behold, but I can't quite imagine a bloke doing the plucking thing on a regular basis.
And before you all shoot me down in flames, yes, I know they shave their legs and etceteras on a daily basis, and it's clear that several of them use "product" on their hair, Jakob included, but somehow to pluck the eyebrows? No, I think it's natural.
Eva, 30 degrees in Belgium? Wow, it's nowhere near that over here. I'm still going out in a fleece every day! (It gets removed after about an hour...)

Figgy, don't worry, his nose is fine: just compare the amount of white "shade" on the left of his nose to the amount on Fabu's nose. Andy's nose is clearly much bigger, and the lighting just makes it look a little slimmer than it should be. Even Fabian's nose doesn't look quite as squashed as it normally does.
This is what you pay the professional photographers for, after all! (*thinks: wonder if a pro photographer could make me look lovely? Naah, no point, I'd rather be real.*)
And aren't I happy that I can't get to the Tour of Lux? Andy isn't in it!

Yes, 30 degrees in Belgium, it was a surprise for me as well, now we're all getting our winter jackets out again, so far summertime!

Two possibilities about Jakob’s absence in the ad:
1. This is the first in a series of DAY Leopard line of clothes, or
2. The Danish and Luxembourg governments didn’t want a high profile ad of Jakob circulating on the internet, so as to deter a sudden influx of overseas applications for Danish and Luxembourgian citizenship. Kind of like how St. Andrew’s University experienced a significant rise in applications from girls, when it was learned that Prince William was planning to go to school there.

Andy on the other hand only looks so-so I am sorry to say. To "sell it" he needs that piercing stare he sometimes gets. Maybe the photographer should have held up a picture of Alberto for him to focus on.

Eva, you should've known better because those pictures were taken around the time of the team presentation in Lux and you were there!!! I suspect you just wanted to go to the naughty corner for a while (instead of studying?).
ReplyDeleteOGL has the same expression with this jacket on as he has on his Twitter avatar, so maybe he thinks it's his sexy look? He'd better asked our advise before.
So Jakob loves to be undressed when he's not cycling? I didn't know that. In the video where he was with his girlfriend Loulou, he was dressed. Has something changed?
What I do know is that OLG and Fabu sleep better without clothes, but I think that more men do that.
Jakob's Eyebrows of Perfection are without a doubt professionally tailored (or as one commented, waxed). That would be my "expert" opinion as someone who saw him up close and in person for 30 seconds or so. :P
ReplyDeleteIsn't Andy's stare reminiscent of the Menzo magazine shoot? What did they tell him to be? Intense? Angry? I can't remember. Maybe that's where he first acquired his modeling skills. (lol) I don't know, don't kill me, you know I adore Andy, and he looks pretty good here, but Andy modeling makes me giggle.
I might be the only person who sort of likes the jacket, although I don't see Andy wearing it out and about.
