Thought RadioShack-Nissan were a Lux team?

Yet in the start list for the Tour Down Under, they are clearly listed as being an American team.

Whoops!

Or is this more sinister than it appears?

Was the merger really a take-over after all?

Sharp-eyed Schlecklanders will spot from the tabs in that screen-cap that I was also blogging at the same time - well, yes, here I am writing and researching simultaneously, it's what I do - and that I also have the UCI site open.

Aaargh, my soul, my soul! Actually, it's ok, it's only reading the rules that sucks out your soul, just checking up on the teams is not so bad. So here I go, wish me luck, and if I'm never seen again, I leave my blog and all the Schlecklanders to... *fades off into the distance...*

Aha! It's all right, I'm back safely from the depths of the UCI site, and according to them, team RadioShack Nissan (no mention of Trek of course) are indeed a LUX team, so that's ok.

Phew!

And now we know who's going to the Tour - Leelu and Nim are lucky, they're getting Jean Vois. We did have him here in the UK for a very, very short time *pulls grumpy face* for the Tour of Britain,  but on one of the first few days he broke a finger really badly, and had to go home. Boo! Poor boy!

Let's hope this season has fewer injuries than last year, eh?

  3. hey I was reading an ebook on my new Kinlde called "The Legend of Rosalind - a cycling story" that is about an amateur getting on the Luxembourg national team and racing in the pro peloton - and some romance - but it takes place in Luxembourg - any idea if the Schlecks have anything to do with this???

  4. Cannot wait for TDU!! A few of my absolute favourites will be racing. And after Will Clarke's strong performance today in the men's national RR, he may well get a spot on the UniSA team!! :D

Oh, and we have a new national champ - Simon Gerrans :)

  5. Thanks Elle, for the links: oh my word, those awful cardigans. I can't believe that OGL wore one....honestly, the things these boys have to do for their sponsors..

Was it just me, or was the presentation nearly exactly the same as the last one?

Just a couple of thoughts arising from it - glad to see that Jakob is a Captain, I think that shows how much he has grown and improved in the last year, yay Jakob! And his hair is back!

Who got the biggest cheer? I thought it was Andy, but then I thought that Frankie got an even bigger cheer? Mind you, it was all a bit subdued, wasn't it?

Kat, have to agree, I don't like the yellow band at all. Morally or as part of the design. And I'm not keen on the black shoes, but otherwise *grudgingly* I have to admit that the kit is not bad at all.

Hello RacerXX, interesting question, I'm afraid I haven't heard of it - drat, there goes my idea to make money from writing about cycling. You'll have to read it, and tell us all about it. If it's rubbish, then I'll write you something better, how's that?

Hi Leelu! *virtual hug*. Glad that you're making the most of one of my Sky handovers, he's a good boy, isn't he? I'm secretly glad that he's moved on, as it was a bit confusing having Gerrans and Geraint ("G") on the same team. My brain is getting a bit overloaded, what with all these new people to learn, new kits to learn, new team names.... great stuff, though, eh?

  6. Oh, Coug, I nearly got a heart attack when I read this title! (I'm still recovering from the shock of the merger, I haven't even seen the new kit, I didn't want to, maybe next week...) argh... I'm glad they remained a Lux team.
And you called Jean Vois a poor boy? I mean, boy? I laughed :D It was so strange for me - he could be my father :D
Oh, and Gerrans & Geraint: hungarian commentators was really confused during the Tour, it was funny that they always said the wrong names when one of this two appeared on tv :D
And wish you happy new year and lot of blogging, (if I'm already commenting)!

  7. Hummm...that book sounds interesting!

Jens sure got a great crowd response. Kinda sad not to see him in the front line of "captains".

Would I rather see Jen's there than Chris Horner? Yep. But Chris does "win" more - but they are both the wise and mature one's, for sure. It will be interesting to watch all the interactions amongst the team.

I thought Frank got more cheers than Andy - but it seemed like they had some confusion with those two at the end. The announcer approached saying "young rider" and then went up to Frank! So when Andy was announced it was bad timing and confusing.....the announcers were pretty awful.

Both Frank and Fabian have been sick - and both looked fairly flushed. I felt sorry for them. And standing still for all that time (must be hell for a rider). Glad Frank and Fabian had bikes to lean on. I think it was intentional and for that purpose.

I see lots of white shoes and socks in the training video's from Mallorca - so Barbara - their personal preferences are obvious and they seem to agree with you.

I'm just happy they've got an 0 on their butts!

    Gonna be an awesome year!

  8. the reason I ask about the Schleck connection other than that it seems to take place in Luxembourg is that on the Amazon author page the author is wearing a 2010 Luxembourg Olympic kit - didn't know you could even get these - only ever saw Andy, Frank and Kim in these - and on the novel website (www.LegendOfRosalind.com) pix with famous cycling folks including Jens Voigt - I want that jersey!

  9. So happy Jakob was named a captain!! He deserves it and I think he probably fought for that actually.

Husband still refuses to acknowledge Gerrans and Geraint are 2 different people!! LOL

  10. They have the "O" on their backsides? You've SEEN their backsides? *penetrating look*

  11. I haven't seen their backsides anywhere either. It looks like they are very secretive about it, because normally teams make pics from the front- and backside of the shirts.
Are they planning a nice surprise or something like this: http://inrng.com/2012/01/duval-cyclocross-champion-france/ ?

  13. I don't want to imply anything, but it's a little bit strange that just after posting my dislikes about the black socks and shoes and then about the would be pic of the backside, that suddenly they posted a lot of pics. Those pics showed a lot of white shoes and socks and no girls in lingerie.
Coug, I think your blog is extremely influential and very well read.

    Barbara.
