Our Glorious Leader!

D'aaaaw, he's so cute! Andy Schleck resisting make-up. Or possibly some last-minute fluffing.

Why? "Because I can!"  No, actually, it's because I don't have time to write up the 3 days of de Panne properly, and I am not prepared to do it in a hurry, but I didn't want you to think that I'd disappeared, or gone off Our Glorious Leader or anything like that.

And this weekend we have Amstel Gold, yay!

Before I go, a quick word on the passport saga - LLB, while we were watching one of the Belgian races, commented that we could easily go there and watch it. Except of course for the little matter of my passport.

"Why don't you just send off the forms?" he said, in mild annoyance.

So I dug out the forms, which were buried under a pile of stuff. Then I couldn't find the photos. I know where they were, I know where I left them, safe and ready, but out of sight so I don't have to look at them too much.

Two days later, still no sign of them. Then, aha! a brainwave. Perhaps I tucked them inside the old passport, ready to be sent off. Yes! That must be it! Makes sense, logical, sensible, just the sort of thing I would do.

So I went to get the old passport - er? Where's the passport gone?

  1. Oh, man, does that sound like my "filing" system! Good luck. It would be great to spontaneously head off on a trip. And, you know, see a Schleck perhaps.

  2. Oh dear, maybe you took them with you while doing a garden and put them by accident in a hole for planting a tree?
Or maybe you are afraid to cross the sea? Or is it the strange food you are scared of? Or is it a language problem?
Nah, I don't think any of these reasons is the real problem, I think you are just scared of fainting by seeing OGL right in the eyes. But don't worry, if that may happen you'll probably think it's not real and that you're watching some kind of new 3-D movie. That's my experience anyway...
So come over to the continent and enjoy.

  3. Hey PeeDee, I like the idea of spontaneous trips - but only if they are planned beforehand. Have sent letters to Leopard Trek pleading with them to send Andy, Jakob, Jensi etc to Tour of Britain, just in case.

LOL Barbara, you strange creature, I have put many things into holes for trees, but not photos of me, or passports! I used to travel a lot for business, I'm just out of the habit.

And things have changed. It seems that I can only take mascara into a plane cabin if it is in a sealed, transparent, grip-top bag measuring no more than 8x8 (20cms square)along with any shower gel (max 100ml),toothpaste, creams and lotions.

Actually PeeDee, you've given me an idea: filing, filing.... will go and search desk.

  4. Any luck with the passport-finding Coug?... you sure a wombat or a koala didnt come and eat it?!, Cause you know they are known for their passport eating skills ;).
Oh on a side note- and not very important, thats just me- in that picture, fluffing up Andy. Yeah, didnt you know, I work for them (well mostly for Andy) now... yeah, its a tough job, but someones got to keep baby Schleck looking smart ;)

  5. But Nim, I thought you were busy with hickeys on your Andy look-a-like? And why did you bleach your hair? I understood from their advertisement last week that they were looking for a girl with dark/black hair,so I quickly went to the store to buy me some black hairpaint. I painted my hair, send in my picture and Sunday night, after AGR, I'm invited for a meeting.

  6. Long story but I'll cut to the chase ;)Now that I've done the hickey on the real Andy, I am like you say, pursuing to get a hickey on the Andy look-alike, but the thing is he's just been difficult to get a hold of at the moment (busy with other things ;)). Oh and bleaching the hair, no no, thats just the light, making my hair look bleached!. I naturally have black hair so- you know for me they didnt even ask for a meeting- it was,"send in a photo of yourself" (which I did)and then I got a reply saying "You have black hair- Perfect, you are hired" ;) and thats how I got the job.
But good luck with your meeting, I hope you get the job, would love to work with you...

  8. Oh Nim, you do make me laugh! Glad to hear that you are gainfully employed in fluffing Our Glorious Leader. I think we all guessed that your comment was aimed at B!

Good news, good news, I have found the wretched passport!! It was indeed in my filing tray (well done PeeDee for that hint, intended or otherwise) which sits right next to my computer screen.... right where my eyes would fall upon it every single time I am sitting here... oh dear.

Anyway, now I have it, I just need to get some new photos, as I have given up hope of finding the previous ones. I have written a covering letter to the passport people explaining why it has wombat teethmarks on the cover. I'm sure they get that a lot.

BTW, job? Job? What job? Am I too late to apply?

  9. Hey Gang, (sorry, two comments on the trot, I'm catching up with paperwork, emails etc) at last Eisen Andy is google-able, and we are getting strange search tems popping up!

Ah, remember those happy Schleckland days when we used to compete for the most obscure search term? Or when we used to bomb Miss FeeDee's blog with a strange search term, what was it, something about lycra?

Anyway, in the last couple of days we have received visits from people searching for:

    Rude Tufty (huh?)

    Blonde Moment Smiley (double huh?)

Andy Schleck (this impressed me, I tried it and got to 18 page without finding a link to Eisen Andy, so they must be a pretty dedicated fan. Or a stalker.)

Andy Schleck Hunting (yay! For this one, we were on page one! So hello to someone from Dublin, hope you found what you were looking for: or better still, hope that you have joined us)

And finally - honest, I don't make these up -:

    Andy Schleck Is My Boyfriend

!!! Hang on while I pop over to google and try it out: yikes! It's true, there we are on page one!! Fantastic, I love it.

Hope you're all going to be watching Amstel Gold later on today - Eurosport 2 at 14.15 ish for UK viewers - and although I am going to be hellishly busy this week, I'll try to catch up with my cycle race reports as soon as I can.

    Big hugs!

  10. LMAO Nim and Barbara!

Coug, I believe it was "Michael Matthews boogers" that we bombed Fede's blog with... with success!! ;)

    Waiting, waiting, waiting for Amstel!!!

  11. D'oh! Our boy lost.

Well, there goes my excuse to drink a Smirnoff raspberry twist... perhaps I can drink it to down my sorrows instead ;P

Congratulations to Philippe Gilbert though. It was kind of nice to see Andy solo for a good 11km (not to mention the lovely scenery of the Netherlands) with no pesky other cyclists to obstruct the view :P *Joking, but actually contemplating an Andy-only race, MWA HA HA HA*

  12. I'm hired, I'm hired!!!!! And I don't have to paint my hair again because now they think it's nicer to have a blonder one next to Nim.
Nim, they told me that you and me are going to meet one of these days and they expect us to work together creative, supporting and stylish without fighting over who gets certain boys. Their problem before, seemingly, was that the former girls were all the time having arguments and tears and so about the work that had to be done. I told them that you and me would never have that kind of girlish behaviour.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Sorry Coug, but the job is now taken; first Nim and now me too. More female persons are not "advisible" at the moment according to Ken. If Nim and me will work fine together they might reconsider...

    ReplyDelete
  14. AWESOME B!!! I knew they would definitely hire you!!Blonde and black- we are bound to make a perfect team!...Oh us fight over boys?! and be girlish??! pfttt what was wrong with those girls who worked before us, amateures!, probably didnt even know how to do their job properly!
Oh yes, I was talking to Ken the other day and he said that two girls are all they can handle at the moment...but you know Coug, I know Andy, I'll just "talk" to him (there will be a price I will have to pay- probably give him another hickey :O)and he can talk to Ken, & we'll see if we can squeeze you in. Leave it to me Coug, I'll see what I can do ;)

  15. BTW B, did you get the memo, we are expected to be at L-B-L this Saturday/Sunday, not sure why exactly, but who needs a reason, right?
    So, see you there :)

  18. Great to know that you've found your passport, Coug! :D

Great move by Our Glorious Leader yesterday afternoon, I threw my Maths book off of the couch as soon as he attacked! I was so happy to see him at the front of the race!
And now, let's all get ready for Fleche!

Leela is right: 'Michael Matthews boogers' was the great sentence that everyone wrote on my blog on a memorable day, some months ago.

If this can make you feel better, someone once came across my blog by writing 'Denis and Carlos naked' and 'Is Contador gay' in Google. However, I must admit that 'Rude Tufty' is one of the best 'research term' I've ever heard of :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hey FeeDee, what great search terms! You'll be thrilled to hear that today someone came here having searched for "site:blogspot.com hippi" , which is nearly as good as Is Contador Gay, but not quite. Or maybe, better, actually.

Ah yes, Michael Matthews Boogers, happy days.

Oh Amanda: "Squee!" (I believe that's how the youngsters do it) How do I get one!!! Is it in English? A pull-out-and-keep Poster? Squee!

No, I don't actually subscribe to 352Lux, I just go onto their website quite often to see what's going on in the Land of the Schlecks. I didn't actually realise it was a magazine, duh! I thought it was a news channel's website.... no wonder the stories are always so short!

Thank you for sharing that one with us, great stuff!

  20. So The Expatresse is Amanda? Amanda thank you for the nice link, I didn't know about it.

Nim, I got the memo too, but they were very adament in pointing out that we weren't allowed to contact the cyclists on Saturday. Depending on the outcome of the race we should be "fully prepared" on Sunday from 5 PM. That was it, no further explanation. So Coug, if you're still interested in the job (?), we can't do anything for you before Monday.

  21. 'Site:blogspot.com hippi' ? Who's the great genius who typed that in Google? :D

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes, it is a pull-out-and-keep poster. Plus, there is a contest to win caps and autographed pictures.

It isn't the best magazine, but they did have Our Team on the cover this week.

Another local one (and new) that has covered them is a magazine called Delano (www.delano.lu).
